The Red Bean, Debut Performance at PACT as part of Queer Development Program Showcase.

I have been thinking about making a character surrounding red beans. Red Bean as symbolic of the sweat and tears one shed for a lover. Something sweet yet could be bitter if not cooked at the right timing. Lip-syncing to Faye Wong’s song of the same name.

Coming out of the red bean soup can. Makes me thinking about coming out of the shell in love. In the early stages of romance, we are all seen as shinny, perfect, glamorous beings. But once we come out of that fantasy, we just want to be loved for being ourselves. Just the plain and blended stage of harmony.

The manufactured bean can on the outside. But we are all so individually different tasting in the inside. So celebrate that!

I performed the red bean again at Hungry Ghost Festival hosted by Dyan Tai
